At the recent ROAR Electric On-Road Nationals, racer Scott Jakes (from Club Race Hero) showed up to race with a mostly 3D-printed 1/12 scale chassis! This was something of his own design and, according to reports, it worked quite well against some very stiff competition.
The website sports the tagline “Download – Print – Race”, where you can download and print, for free, the 3D parts. You’ll still need to add some additional parts to complete the kit (including all of the electronics), but it is a good place to start.

What We Like:
The fact that someone designed a 3D-printed chassis isn’t all that crazy. The fact that someone is giving their design away for free isn’t crazy either. To show up at a major event an run your 3D-printed 1/12 scale – that’s pretty crazy! We’re looking forward to printing and giving this car a go at Cal Raceway!
What We’re Not Sure About:
Nothing, yet. We’ll have to see how things go after the printing process.
