Traxxas is answering the call for Portal Axles with this release for the TRX-4M micro crawler. These are a complete set of front and rear axles that also includes 2 sets of transmission gears – a set for single speed and a set for 2-speed.
The portals contain all metal gears and give your TRX-4M approximately 10.5mm of central ground clearance. They also extend the width a full 9mm.
These are a direct replacement for the stock, non-portal units.

What We Like:
While we’re not huge fans of portals, we do see how people would like the higher ground clearance for traversing difficult terrain. It’s also nice that they’re not only a full kit, but that Traxxas has included gears to help optimize the transmission.
What We’re Not Sure About:
$129 is a bit pricey considering the truck itself is around $160.
