Tamiya is at the 2025 Nuremburg Toy Fair this week and, as always, have surprised us all with some fabulous releases. Along with some new items, Tamiya is also bringing back some old favorites. Let’s take a quick look at everything new from the Japanese company
42389 Tamiya TRF104 Chassis Kit
This new F1 kit has some vintage look to it but with some crazy new updates. The front looks standard – upper and lower suspension arms, adjustable camber via the TA08, inline axles and aluminum bulkhead. The rear, however, looks insane with its center-roll motor pod. It uses friction grease, roll springs and an FRP suspension plate to flex the rear end as desired. This kit is also compatible with shortly LiPos. Yes please – we’ll take one of these ASAP!
47330 Tamiya The Bigwig 2017
This is a re-release of the very popular Bigwig 4WD buggy. It comes with knobby tires, dish wheels, large offroad shocks and that Takuya Yura-designed body set. It also features full ball bearings, oil-filled shocks and a 540 motor and HW ESC.
47372 Tamiya Subaru Impreza Mexico 2004 – TT-01 Type E
Another re-re of the Subie that raced in the 2004 WRC series. It comes on the TT-01 Type E chassis and has the beautiful Impreza Mexico body set. It also comes with a 540 motor and HW ESC. This is a Limited Edition Re-Release.
47510 Tamiya Toyota Celica GT-Four (ST205) TT-02
This version of the Celica GT-Four now comes with a pre-painted body set, in black. All that is required (after building the car, of course), is to apply the stickers and mount – the rest has been done for you. It does come on the updated TT-02 chassis and includes 10-spoke wheels (in gunmetal) and racing slick tires.
56377 Tamiya 40-Foot Container 3-Axle Semi-Trailer
For those wanting something for the semi crowd, here ya go – Tamiya’s 40-foot container trailer! This model, once assembled, will attach to any of Tamiya’s tractor trucks. It uses both plastic and metal parts for durability and accuracy.
58611 Tamiya Honda City Turbo WR-02C
Another re-release of a long-time favorite, the Honda City Turbo is on the unique WR-02C chassis and features a comical-style look to it. A wheelie bar out back helps with some wheels-up fun. Comical driver figure, treaded tires and that very curvy body are all standard features.
58744 Tamiya Audi 90 quattro Racing TT-02
A new body set from Tamiya, the Audi 90 quattro Racing brings to life the massively overpowered 4WD rides from the late 80’s. This thing is spot-on – beautiful Audi 90 body, hard-plastic rear wing and side mirrors, dish wheels and that livery – outstanding! We are for sure adding one of these to our wish list!
58746 Tamiya Peugeot 306 Maxi BT-01
The Peugeot 306 is back, but this time on Tamiya’s new BT-01 chassis. This Peugeot is based on the 1996 class-championship winning Maxi in 1996 and, because of the BT-01 platform, can be built in FWD or RWD form (FWD, of course). It comes with a Rally-inspired 6-spoke wheels, radial tire, a 540 motor and HW ESC.
58748 Tamiya Volkswagen Golf II GTI 16V MB-01
Coming to us on the M-Chassis size MB-01 platform, the VW Golf II GTI 16V is a great looking ride that takes advantage of the possible FWD layout build. The body set is gorgeous and comes with treaded tires, ‘steelie’ style wheels, 540 motor and HW ESC.
58749 Tamiya Audi R8 LMS 2008 TT-02
Landing on the TT-02 chassis, the Audi R8 LMS is the GT3-conforming version of this stellar road rocket. The body is clear with window masks and decals as well as 16-spoke wheels and slick tires. A 540 motor and HW ESC are also included.
What We Like:
Umm, ALL of them. I do have my favorites – the F1, both Audis and that Peugeot – awesome! Good to see some really popular rides coming soon from Tamiya.
What We’re Not Sure About:
This is a January 2025 announcement. Earliest we’ll probably be seeing any of these cars is maybe March… ????
