Known mostly for their superb high-end radio systems, Futaba has announced the CDR-8000L, a compact, dual-port AC/DC balance charger.
This unit can charge LiPo, NiCD, NiMH or lead batteries using it’s dual port 600W system. Each port has a max charge rating of 16A with a discharge current of .1 – 3A. Balance and temp ports are also built into the front right below the large, 3.5″ LCD screen. A USB port is also included as is a top-mount wireless smartphone charging system.
What We Like:
We love the compact footprint as well as the large LCD display. The top-mount smart phone charger is also a nice touch and seems to be a future must-have on all units.
What We’re Not Sure About:
For the everyday user, this will be a great charger, however anyone that wants to be competitive is not going to be happy with the 16A-max charge rate. Unfortunately the small AC/DC footprint does lose the ability to charge at higher rates. Compromise, I guess.
