Back in “The Day’, which I guess is any day before this one but for out purposes means the Golden Age of R/C, a few companies made Alloy wings for buggies. Exactly why at the time is unclear, as back in the mid-80’s-Early 90’s, there was no real collector’s market as there is now and these wings did not take crash damage like Lexan. But they were stiff, stylin’, and sexy!
Zip forward to today (Whoosh!) and now there are no Alloy wings, and collectors, vintage chaps, and restorers can only hope to pay large for a wing that is rarely attractive enough to grace their prized rigs of old. So, all the employees of REC got together, and I told myself we must do something about this: I listened to me, and hence, the Aluminum Buggy Wing is once again a reality!
Specs & Notes
These are .031 Aluminum, pre-bent and come with two 6″ pieces of Stainless spring wire, the 0-80 screws & nuts for assembly, and finely-engraved, flamed wing buttons for some extra style. These, naturally, can be made to fit any 1/10 buggy you want, and are the same basic size as a factory wing (Airfoil is 5.6″ x 2.9″- 142 mm. x 74 mm.) These will come with the peel-off PVC coating on 1 side, so you get a scratch-free unit. Some light sanding on the edges may be needed, but is super-quick & easy. You will need a .035″ hex driver for assembly: A very small Torx also works I hear.
