For you old guys that love vintage stuff, you’ll be pleased to hear that Yokomo will be re-releasing the Super Dog Fighter, a 4WD buggy from the 1980’s that was, at the time, the bees knees.
It’s not going to be a full vintage version, though, but will have updates like gear differentials, a slipper clutch and a tray that will accept LiPo batteries (but will also be slotted for Sub-C NiMh cells – for those of you that know what those are). Other upgrades will be the standard hubs that accepted the OG 1.9″ wheels, but with an optional part that will allow the conversion of the current 2.2″ wheels.
Here are some more key facts:
Product Package
Highly reproducible packaging reminiscent of products sold in 1987.
Main Chassis
The FRP main chassis has a battery slot that can accommodate sub-C size batteries, as well as thick/thin short lipo batteries.
Suspension arm and knuckle
The suspension arm is the same size as the original, and the front and rear common knuckles are reproduced as they are made of aluminium.
Bulkhead
The aluminium bulkhead faithfully reproduces the model at the time. The bulkhead cap and rod end are also milky white, reproducing the original.
Body/Under Cowl/Wing
The body, under cowl, and rear wing also completely reproduce the original form.
Shock Tower
The original FRP front and rear shock towers are also reproduced as they are.
Differential gear/main gear
Front and rear gear differentials and slipper clutch are standard equipment to accommodate the current power source.
Shock
The shock, which reproduces the original alumite colour, has been renewed and has an adjustable nut system that allows for wide capacity settings.
Tire/Foil
The tire pattern, wheel colour and size are reproduced with the original dimensions.

What We Like:
We had one of these back in the day and, in all honesty, you had to be a baller to get one. It was expensive to buy, it was expensive to own. All that and, again in all honesty, it didn’t handle all that well. However it was fast and, if you could manage it, was an absolute blast to drive! Today’s buggies are much better but this is one of those cars we wish we never got rid of…
What We’re Not Sure About:
Gonna be pricey…
