Short course is the hottest thing in RC. Specific short course events are being held around the country on a regular basis. The scale fundamentals of short-course trucks make for some of the most competitive, fun, fender-rubbing competition in RC racing!
130+ entries filled the recently renovated Tacoma R/C Raceway for round 4 of the Short Course Showdown Tour. All the big brands in SC were in attendance to do battle for the top spots. Team Associated was on fire the entire weekend. Michael Schoettler was the man with TQ speed in 2WD, putting his FT SC10 inside of the front row for the main by 4 seconds. Schoettler and Brian Kinwald dueled for the TQ in 4×4, until round 4, when the former world champ laid down the only 18-lap run of the weekend with his FT SC104x4!
The single A-Main format with two drivers transferring to the A Mains made for huge excitement from the spectators as they cheered for their favorite trucks! Some tough luck plagued Shoettler on the first lap of 2WD Modified, allowing Luke Smith to shoot into the lead. The SC10 of John Walentia put some pressure on Luke at times, but Luke was poised up front and scored the big win for his Reedy-powered FT SC10! Michael recovered for a strong third-place finish to complete the SC10 sweep of the podium!
The final race of the weekend was the 4×4 main. It was Kinwald time. BK had to fight off an early attack from teammate Shoettler, but Brian drove a flawless race and soon checked out, cruising his SC10 4×4 to victory.
A big thanks goes out to Scott Brown, Scotty Ernst, and Charlie Suangka for putting on this first- class event!
