The World Gate resort in Orlando, Florida was the site of the 12th running of the world-famous Snowbird Nationals. Featuring road course and oval classes, the ‘Birds is the best-attended indoor race in the world! Competitors from as far away as Europe and Asia battled against a strong field of American and Canadian drivers. The chance to ascend the podium steps and accept their awards from the famous Snowbirds trophy girls was strong incentive to do well.
In the Expert TC class, Québécois Keven Hébert and his Reedy/LRP-powered TC6.1 showed up early and on the pace. Featuring 17.5 motors and boosted ESCs, the Expert TC class is one of the most popular and prestigious classes offered. Hébert topped the time sheets in the second round and maintained his advantage throughout the remainder of qualifying to claim the advantageous pole position for the single A-Main event.
On the small ballroom circuit, pole position is a huge advantage. Keven took full command of the situation with a perfect start while leaving the rest of the field to fight for scraps. Alone and out front, Keven maintained a healthy gap and led wire to wire for the win, which netted him a great trophy, a panoramic view from the top step of the podium, and first shot at Miss Snowbirds. Nice job!
A Reedy Sonic 17.5 motor and an all-new #601 65C 6500mAh LiPo battery were the foundation of Keven’s winning ride. No matter how well your car works and how well you drive, power determines whether you win or are relegated to back-marker status. An LRP SXX Stock Spec ESC with boost in full effect rounded out the potent power package.
The ROAR Carpet Nationals are just round the corner so expect another fine showing from Keven and the rest of the Reedy team. Stay tuned!
