The Reedy Race was once again held at Norcal Hobbies in Union City, California. Practice was held on Thursday and Friday, three rounds of qualifying Saturday and one more round of qualifying and triple A Mains on Sunday. With the usual Reedy weather, it made the race even more challenging.
In the Open Modified class, Team Associated was ready. Kevin Jelich won TQ in round one in a comfortable fashion. In the next three rounds, Eric Albano TQ’d overall, with Kevin in second and Kody Knudtson in fourth, making it a perfect 4-for-4 for the Team Associated touring car. With two TQs, Albano lead the pack and started on pole.
In A1 Albano maintained his lead while a battle for second began. It finished with Albano in first and Kody in second.
A2 was a battle for the lead between Albano and Jelich, which lasted almost the whole race. Eventually a gap was formed which allowed Albano to win and take the overall, with Jelich in second.
A3 was another battle with the top two making a gap from the rest of the field. Jelich handled the pressure and took the win, with Kody finishing third.
It has been some time since Team Associated won the Open Class and this year the podium saw three Associated drivers. Eric Albano first, Kevin Jelich second, and Kody Knudtson third. It was a very good showing for Associated with five cars making the A Main.
