The Northwest Championship Tour is a best 4 out of 6 race series that attracts the best racers from the Pacific Northwest and Canada. This past weekend the Radio Control Car Club of Wenatchee (RCCCW) hosted stop number 1 of the tour with the 11th annual RCCCW Spring Shoot-out race. The fair weather provided perfect conditions for a great weekend of racing.

In qualifying, Venom team drivers Jesse Munn and Mike Hudson quickly showed that they brought their “A” game. Jesse Munn was able to TQ both 2wd Modified Buggy and Short course. Mike Hudson qualified 2nd in 2wd Modified Buggy, 4th in Modified Truck, and 9th in 4wd Modified buggy.

When the triple A-main events rolled around Sunday morning, it was clear that they were determined to win. In A1, they came out swinging; finishing 1-2 in the 2wd Modified Buggy class, 1st in Modified Truck, 1st in Short course, and 3rd in 4wd Modified. A2 would have similar results with a 1st-3rd place finish in 2wd Modified Buggy and 2nd in Short course, Modified Truck, and 4wd Modified buggy. A3, all or nothing, Mike Hudson was able to take the win in both 2wd Modified Buggy and Modified truck, giving him the overall win in those classes. In 4wd Modified Buggy, he was able to get 3rd to give him a 3rd place podium finish overall. Jesse Munn was able to pilot his Venom Powered Short course truck to a win in A3, giving him the 1st place overall. In 2wd Modified Buggy, he was able to finish 4th and get a 2nd overall finish.

Thanks to the RCCCW for another great season opener. Next stop Spokane, WA. See you there!
