Video: Tamiya BBX Buggy in the Sand | CompetitionX

We’ve taken our Tamiya BBX to the fields, on the dirt and a bit of pavement. However, we wondered what this new buggy would be like IN THE SAND!

We got ourselves a set of RC4WD Sand Thrasher sand tires and mounted them on some old school Pro-Line Crestline beadlock wheels. In addition, we upped the power with the addition of a 13.5T R1 Wurks motor and headed to the local beach.

So. Much. Fun. Here’s just a little taste of what you get when you combine the BBX with some sand.

Note: Yes, sand will absolutely trash the bearings and gears in your car if you don’t take preventative measures. After this run, we removed most of the exterior bearings and cleaned them out. We also had to replace the spur and pinion gear – both were pitted and very noisy.
