We’ve had alot of questions about driving the Tamiya XM-01 Pro on a road course – is it a viable onroad race car.
So, to test, we took our XM-01 Pro to Cal Raceway and did some laps. The only changes we made were to lower it (using the extra holes in the front caster blocks and rear hubs) and a set of Type A tires – the rest was all right from the Rally track.
We also did a little testing with a shorty LiPo pack. A custom battery strap (thanks Ken) allowed us to strap in the smaller LiPo – a second gen strap is in the works to allow us to position the battery for better weight distribution.
In this video, we show off the XM-01 Pro rounding 4 laps at Cal. It handles great but it really could use a set of anti-roll bars to be on point! Still, a great run with tons of potential.
