CompetitionX – The List – August 2022

CompetitionX - The List - August 2022

Welcome to the August 2022 edition of The List. We easily had 9 new products that could have made it on this month’s The List but, as always, we have to narrow it down to the Top 5 – so let’s get to it.

1. Losi LMT Mega Trucks – Bog Hog, Sling KingCompetitionX - The List - August 2022
The first rig on The List this month is Losi’s new LMT Solid Axle Mega Trucks. The Losi crew has taken the LMT to a new level with the killer color-matched powder-coated chassis, awesome body sets and those mud-truck-type wheels and tires. Power is not an issue either with both trucks loaded with a full array of Spektrum electronics – Firma Smart 4S-capable ESC, Firma 2600kV 4-pole motor, S614S waterproof servo and the DX3 Transmitter for control. Both trucks also include a unique front-flip body and cage to easily access the chassis for maintenance and battery changes. This truck is sure to bring a smile to your face, so it’s a shoe-in for this month’s The List!

2. Exotek Formula 1 Rubber TiresCompetitionX - The List - August 2022
Since the once dominant Pit Shimizu tires have gone away, the one thing the Formula 1 class has been lacking is a really good set of rubber tires – until now. Exotek has released their new F1 rubber tires, front and back, using touring car compounds! This not only makes them amazing on grip but also fantastic on tread wear. Currently, the fronts are available in 40 compound while the rears are a 36X (more compounds for different track temps coming soon). On top of that, Exotek has paired the tires up with the new 2022 Formula 1 Spec dish wheel, just like the real cars! Together, you get an amazing, scale set of kicks for your F1 ride that really takes the handling to next level. We’ve tried them and we’re hooked! Because of that, these tires had to make their way to The List!

3. Traxxas TRX-4 1979 Chevrolet K10 High Trail EditionCompetitionX - The List - August 2022
Let’s face it, the TRX-4 isn’t a new offering, however Traxxas has updated this rig to really give it a whole new appearance! The chassis has been extended to 336mm, has a long-arm lift kit on it (for about 1″ more clearance) and an appearance change – oversized tires to fit under the stunning K10 body! What we also love is Traxxas’ clipless body system, keeping the lid firmly secured while not having any holes or body pins to deal with! Oh, and it has lights installed right from the factory! Definitely a sweet ride – one that we’d get – so of course it deserves a spot on The List!

4. Fenix Racing Ferrari/Renault F1 BodiesCompetitionX - The List - August 2022
If you can’t tell, we’re a bit into this whole Formula 1 thing. That being said, we have to add Fenix Racing’s Ferrari T4 and Renault RS10 body sets to this month’s The List! Both of these bodies look absolutely amazing – nice lines on the noses, side pods and engine covers as well as an exposed engine on the Renault. Both of these bodies are designed for use on the Tamiya F103/F104WGP platforms (or similar) which, unfortunately, is their only downside (those cars are a bit hard to find). However, we do think they are super cool and had to give a shout out for the job well done!

5. CEN Racing Ford F-250 SD Lifted TruckCompetitionX - The List - August 2022
After drooling over CEN’s Ford F-450, we wondered if there would ever be a F-250. Well, yes, and even though it’s more mall crawler than Super Duty, we had to add it to this month’s The List simply because it’s so bad ass! The chassis is set up similar to the F-450 with a Hobbywing ESC and RS-540 motor, lifted suspension and, in true mall crawler fashion, under-chassis lighting that can be changed via a button on the transmitter. What we love about this truck, though, is the beautiful F-250 body rolling along on KG1 wheels. It is available in either Daytona Blue and Burnt Copper but from what we hear, a clear body will be offered shortly. That’s a major plus as we’re going to do this gem up like our white 2022 Ford F-250 SD!
