Welcome to the December 2015 edition of The List. Lots of new goodies out just before Christmas – cars, parts, etc. Well, we have the best items loaded up here that you should look in to!
1. Reedy Blackbox 800ZReedy’s Blackbox ESC’s have been a nice addition to their line of electronics. The new 800Z is the companies ‘Spec’ ESC, offering a high-end option to stock racing. It comes in a lightweight, plastic case, has a low-profile heatsink and offers zero-timing, meaning it’s always in ‘blinky mode’. It has all of the other race-level features you would need – adjustable brake, throttle, and drive frequencies – and comes with solder tabs and an external Pro Capacitor unit to keep the footprint small. It’s 2S LiPo compatible with a motor limit of 10.5T, however I’ve used this in stock racing and it’s fast! It’s nice to see a company like Reedy making a stock friendly ESC, so I thought it would be a great addition to this month’s The List.

HPI/HB’s D216 is still awaiting market release, but the fact that the company has stepped up its offroad game is pretty exciting. This car has already seen some positive results at the hand of Ty Tessmann, and with it’s unique design it’s sure to be a hit with those that ‘want something different’. The feature list is long – things like a triagulated front shock tower, solid suspension arms, wide dual bellcrank system and an unusually tall, mid-mounted gearbox are just a few of the things this buggy sports. While it may be a bit odd compared to the standard crop of 2WD buggies, it’s sure to be a big hit on the track and a shoe-in for this month’s The List.

Sometimes the simple things can give the biggest advantages – like MIP’s Roller Puck drive system. This system uses small ‘pucks’ that are screwed in place to your CVD ball. These pucks then slide in and out of the outdrive, preventing wear on the outdrive cups. When a little bit of slop starts to form, you simply replace the pucks! It’s a solid drive system that reduces maintenance and adds a very positive feel during acceleration of your car. Like I said, simple yet extremely effective, and I like to highlight those kinds of items here in The List.

Team Associated has bumped their awesome Touring Car to a 7-series vehicle. This new ride has updated suspension geometry, new one-piece motor mount and even includes Fox shocks with Genuine Kashima Coating. I’m a major fan of AE’s TC – it works fantastic for my driving style, so I’m really excited to see how much better the TC7 is! I can already say that if you’re looking for a new TC, take a really good look at this car. We’re on the list to get one so look for a review on it in the near future!

We love conversion kits – especially those that transform one vehicle into something quite different. Enter Team STRC’s IZILLA, a conversion kit that turns Axial’s Wraith into a full-blown Monster Racing Truck! This kit includes a CNC-machined ladder frame chassis, aluminum crossmembers, electronics plate, body posts and all the assembly hardware. Then attach your favorite MT-sized wheels, tires and body and you have yourself a bad ass, solid-axle, 4-link racing Monster Truck! Love it! Great conversion – and welcome to this month’s The List
