Misbehaving 26cc Engine

Question:
Hey there Doc,
When I’m out running my 26cc 5B Baja I’ve noticed that when the engine is hot and running near the top end (high revs) it seems to misfire alot. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jacque

Answer:
Hi Jacque.
While the larger, 2-stroke gas engines (like those in the Baja) aren’t as finicky with tuning as their 1/10th scale nitro counterparts, you occasionally need to tweak them to get keep them running optimally. It sounds like the top end is a bit lean and, when the engine nears it’s top-end revs, it’s searching for more fuel. Richen the top end up a bit (counterclockwise) and that should cure your problem. It’s best to do this in 1-hour increments so that you don’t over-tune yourself out.

Good luck!
The Doc
